YOUNG’S Seafood today announced the appointment of Duncan McIntyre as group operations director. He has worked in the food and consumer facing industries for 26 years.
Prior to joining Young’s Seafood, he was a supply chain director at Nomad Foods, where he was responsible for the manufacturing process and distribution of finished goods, turning over a total of 300,000 tonnes per annum of frozen fish, vegetables and meals.
Before that he worked for nine years at Weetabix Food Company as group operations director and he also undertook several senior operational roles at Boots Healthcare International and GlaxoSmithKline.
He will join Young’s on March 12, replacing Steve Lidgett who is retiring from the company at the end of April.
Bill Showalter, chief executive of Young’s, said: ‘Duncan’s extensive operational experience will be extremely valuable as we look to execute our long-term growth strategy.’
McIntyre said: ‘I’m delighted to be joining the team at Young’s Seafood. Young’s is recognised as the UK’s number one fish and seafood business with a reputation for quality across multiple categories supplying the retail and foodservice sectors.
‘I’m very much looking forward to playing a role in driving the business forward.’
Also joining Young’s Seafood, as chief financial officer, is Tim Busby following the announcement of his appointment over the summer. He succeeds Malcolm Lofts, who retired from the role in December but will continue to support the company in an advisory capacity.
