TWO Scottish salmon companies have made the shortlist in the the Food & Drink Company of the Year category at the Business Insider Made in Scotland Awards.

The Scottish Salmon Company and Loch Duart Salmon were selected from several entries in the awards, which will be announced tonight at a ceremony at the Glasgow Science Centre.

Both producers are recognised as champions of some of the best and most innovative food products made in Scotland. The Scottish Salmon Company is also a finalist in the Best New Product category for its Native Hebridean Salmon.

Both companies have also been shortlisted in the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards 2017, in the Foodservice Product of the year category. Loch Duart was chosen for its Loch Duart Salmon and the Scottish Salmon Company for its Native Hebridean Salmon.

Craig Anderson (pictured), CEO of the Scottish Salmon Company, said: ‘To be shortlisted for Foodservice Product of the Year is a testament to our commitment to provenance and innovation.

‘Our broodstock programme has been in development for several years and our unique strain of Native Hebridean Salmon is born, bred and reared exclusively in the Hebrides.  We are bringing Scottish salmon back to Scotland.’

The winners will be announced on May 18 at an award ceremony and dinner in the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
