MARINE Harvest is inviting local firms to a meeting in Skye next week to discuss possible opportunities at its new feed plant.
Scotland’s biggest salmon farmer and some of the main contractors for the Altanavaig project in Kyleakin will host the event next Wednesday, April 26, according to a report today in the West Highland Free Press.
The company said it is interested in speaking with any businesses that could help with supplies and services as the development takes shape.
The £93 million project, which secured planning approval from Highland Council in February, is expected to be completed next year.
It includes construction of factory buildings 40m high, a 60m chimney stack and an extension of the quarry pier near the Skye Bridge. Marine Harvest has said the development will create at least 55 full-time jobs.
The ‘meet the supplier’ event will run from 6.30pm until 8.30pm in Kyleakin Community Hall.
