Malachite green found in frozen eel

EU rapid alert for week 28 detected leucomalachite green in frozen pangasius fillets (Pangasius hypophtalmus) from Vietnam, notified by the Netherlands.

Also Denmark notified for the same reason. Frozen tuna loins from Indonesia via the Netherlands had been treated with carbon monoxide, notified by Italy. Frozen swordfish from Indonesia via the Netherlands had also been treated with carbon monoxide, which was notified by Italy.

Malachite green and crystal violet was found in frozen eel from China via Poland, notified by Germany. Finally, too high content of polyphosphates was detected in canned crab meat in brine from Thailand via the Czech Republic, notified by Slovakia.

Alert notifications are sent when the food or feed presenting the risk is on the market and when immediate action is required.
