The EU rapid alert system for week 24 has found ASP (amnesic shellfish poisoning) Domoic acid in scallops from the UK, notified by Belgium.
Also, Leucomalachite green was found in whole round farmed milkfish from Indonesia via the Netherlands, notified by the UK, dioxins were found in shrimp hulls from Poland, notified by Germany, too high content of sulphites in cooked prawns (Penaeus vannamei) from Spain, notified by Italy, frozen yellow fin tuna loins (Thunnus albacares) from Indonesia via the Netherlands had been treated with carbon monoxide, notified by Italy and finally Listeria monocytogenes was found in smoked salmon from Denmark, notified by Italy.
The EC said consumers can be reassured that products subject to an alert notification have been withdrawn or are in the process of being withdrawn from the market.
