MSC approved product adopted by French discount chain

FRENCH discount chain Ed is now offering private label frozen Alaska salmon as its first Marine Stewardship Council-labelled product.
According to the MSC, Ed first began carrying the product in November 2004.Ed, Carrefour's hard discount chain, sells 100 percent of its roughly 1,800 products under its own private label, Dia.The addition marks a successful year for new MSC-labelled products as the number of products carrying the label are have risen over the last two years . In Jan. 2003, 190 products were MSC-labelled. In January 2005, the number of MSC products had risen to 232, and they were being sold in 23 countries.
