Update on shellfish monitoring contracts in Scotland
Published:  06 February, 2012

Following on from the announcement of some shellfish monitoring contracts last month, the Food Standards Agency has now awarded contracts for shellfish sampling across nine local authority areas in Scotland.

The details of the new contracts, which will start in April 2012, are being developed with the successful bidders.

Highland Council and Argyll and Bute Council will continue to collect shellfish and water samples. In Shetland Isles, Orkney Isles, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Fife, Hallmark Meat Hygiene Ltd will now collect samples.

For the remaining areas, North Ayrshire, South Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway, the Food Standards Agency Operations Group will collect samples from April 2012.
