Machrihanish Hatchery

We currently have a vacancy for a Technician at our research Hatchery at Machrihanish, near Campbeltown.  After a successful probationary period, the post would be offered on a permanent full-time basis working a 40 hour week.

This role is focused upon the development of wrasse as cleaner fish for the control of sea lice on salmon and on developing a sustainable culture of wrasse that avoids having to take fish from the wild and to conduct research to optimise their use for best practice in terms of wrasse and salmon welfare.  Applications would be particularly welcome from candidates who have some experience in fish farming operations but it is not essential as full training and support would be provided.  A driving license and own transport is essential.

Beyond the nature of the role, the post holder would be expected to undertake over-time and weekend work as required in order to accommodate the business needs of the Hatchery and, for the same reason, would be part of the site Alarm Rota.

If you are interested in applying for this vacancy, please submit an application in writing with details of relevant experience, by the closing date of Friday 10th February to: Vicky Ferguson, Human Resources Manager, Marine Harvest (Scotland) Limited, Business Resource Centre, Blar Mhor Industrial Estate, Fort William,
