US lifts Norwegian salmon import duties
Published: 30 January, 2012
|
IN a move that has been welcomed by Norwegian authorities, the US Government has lifted the penalty tariffs it had imposed on Norwegian salmon imports.
These anti-dumping duties were imposed in 1991 by the US International Trade Commission. The review has been hailed by Norwegian authorities and salmon farmers as a great step forward. Minister of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs Lisbeth Berg-Hansen feels it was a fundamentally important industrial and trade policy issue, as the salmon industry is highly export-oriented and dependent on reliable and predictable trading conditions.
