Versatile new vessel design set to spark huge interest at ‘Fishing, Aquaculture and Seafood Expo – from Sea to Plate’
Published:  26 January, 2012

A new multi-purpose under 10m vessel from Cygnus Workboats that is ideal for potting, netting and jigging is set to be a major attraction at the forthcoming ‘Fishing, Aquaculture and Seafood Expo – from Sea to Plate’ that is being staged in Glasgow, Scotland, in March 2012.

The Cyclone 33 is a new design from the renowned Cygnus range and features reverse chines that ensure excellent stability and versatility. A fully fitted-out craft will be on display at the fish expo, giving fishermen visiting the first-hand opportunity to see the benefits of this type of craft.

Neville Harrison of Cygnus says: “We believe the increased beam Cyclone 33 offers more stability than any other mono-hull in its length class.   We are delighted to be attending the expo and look forward to meeting with fishermen keen to find out more about this new vessel design.

“One of the key features is the spacious working area, which provides tremendous benefits when operating fishing gear. The design of this vessel makes it ideal for a variety of fishing methods and visitors to the Fishing, Aquaculture and Seafood Expo will have the opportunity to tour the vessel and see at first hand the range of fishing options available.”

One Cyclone 33, named Halcyon, has already been sold to Richard Gray and Ian Nicolson of Shetland and there are several other orders currently under construction.

Fran McIntyre, managing director of show organiser QD Events, said: “Boat displays will form an integral part of this year’s Fishing, Aquaculture and Seafood Expo and we are confident that the new Cyclone 33 will generate a huge amount of interest amongst visitors.”

This will be the 25th anniversary of the UK fishing expo, which formerly focused primarily on the catching sector, but has now been extended to include processing, seafood and aquaculture in recognition of the increasing integration between the various fish industry sectors.

As well as the comprehensive stand displays, the social side of the show is also being seen as a very important element and some fantastic deals have been arranged for exhibitors and visitors with the best Spas and shopping locations within Glasgow, including at the world famous Blythswood Hotel Spa, Buchanan Galleries and St Enoch’s Square.

“The Fishing, Aquaculture and Seafood Show – from Sea to Plate” will take place from 22 to 24 March 2012 at the SECC, Glasgow, from 10am to 5pm Thursday & Friday, and 10am to 4pm Saturday. More details www.fasexpo.com
