POSTPONEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT: FISH AND MARINE 2012
Published:  09 January, 2012

Exhibition Management Services (EMS), organisers of Fish & Marine Africa 2012, has announced the postponement of the expo, which was scheduled to take place from 13 to 15 March this year in Cape Town.

Although this event had attracted a high level of interest from potential exhibitors, there was an overall reluctance to commit to actual contracts.

The general feeling seemed to be “let’s wait and see what 2012 will bring, then we will make a decision”. A statement from EMS said: "Unfortunately there is, in real terms, little time between now and March 15th. Certainly not enough time for EMS as organisers to guarantee those companies that have contracted to exhibit a successful outcome.

"It may well be that many of the companies that said they will sign up in the New Year will indeed do so. As a long established exhibition organiser with a reputation to protect, EMS cannot – and will not – take that gamble. Not only would it be unprofessional, but it would be unfair on those companies that have put their faith in EMS delivering a “value for money” event.

"EMS is still committed to the Fishing and Maritime industries and believe in the value of the exhibition, but have decided in everyone’s interests to postpone the 2012 event until such time as they have a better idea of where the economy and the industry is going, as well as the level of support they can bank on."
