THE editor of Fish Farmer Magazine, Malcolm Dickson and his wife Cathryn are cycling 51 miles from Glasgow to Edinburgh on Sunday to raise money for the RNLI.
They are taking part in the freshnlo Pedal for Scotland event on 11th September – Scotland’s biggest bike ride - and have nominated the RNLI as their chosen charity.
Malcolm said: “Fifty-one miles is much further than I have cycled in years, but the good news is that westerly winds are forecast for Sunday, so we should be able to freewheel most of the way!”
Cathryn added: “We are really looking forward to the event and it’s great to be help support the RNLI.”
Wishing Malcolm and Cathryn good luck for the event, Fiona Beaton, Events Coordinator Scotland for the RNLI said: “Every day an average of 22 people are rescued by the RNLI’s lifeboat crews around the coasts of the UK and Republic of Ireland.
“This service is only made possible because of the personal courage and commitment of our brave volunteers, their high quality equipment and their regular specialist training. As an independent charity we rely on public donations to ensure rescues are possible. Your involvement in Pedal for Scotland and fundraising helps this vital service to continue and your support is very much appreciated.”
