Alltech president and founder to speak at Aqua Nor 2011 lunch meeting
Published:  16 August, 2011

PEARSE Lyons, president and founder of Alltech, is keynote speaker at a lunch meeting titled ‘A Fishfarming Evolution’ on Wednesday at Aqua Nor 2011 in Trondheim.

Over the course of the luncheon, Dr. Lyons will share his vision for the future of aquaculture – how new natural technologies will allow flexibility in feed formulation and how algae can offer a new dimension for animal nutrition. Topics under discussion include: improving productivity, reducing the carbon footprint and developing a sustainable future.

The aquaculture industry is growing rapidly and with that growth comes nutritional, logistical and environmental challenges that must be addressed to achieve long-term success and profitability. Increasing consumer demand for aquaculture products is putting pressure on producers and exporters. Alltech's innovative approach to the development of natural aquaculture feed ingredients make it the perfect partner for effective, efficient and safe aquaculture production.

“Aquaculture is the fastest growing sector of the animal industry,” said Jorge Arias, global director of Alltech’s Aqua Division. “Its value lies in its sustainable nature. We use algae as a replacement for protein and fatty acids in the fish diet, which leads to lower feed costs and less impact on the environment. During Aqua Nor we hope to discuss these new developments so that this industry can continue to thrive.”

Alltech will also be at Aqua Nor at stand 565 in hall F, where John Sweetman, Alltech and Bjarne Ravnøy, Produs Aqua will be available to answer questions about Alltech’s solutions.

Aqua Nor 2011 takes place from August 16th – 19th and is attended by 15,000 – 20,000 delegates from more than 50 nationalities.
