John Ross launches in Harrods
Published:  16 May, 2011

JOHN Ross Jr (Aberdeen) Ltd, claimed to be Scotland’s oldest commercial producer of traditional Scottish smoked Scottish salmon, is launching at one of London’s most iconic stores, the world-famous Harrods.

The partnership between the Knightsbridge retailer and the prestigious smokehouse, which traditionally cold smokes salmon in brick kilns dating back to 1857, will see nine luxury John Ross Jr smoked salmon products available in the Food Halls from this month.

Each of the premium products has been smoked over oak and beech chippings for up to 24 hours using a time-honoured method, which wins awards year after year.  The range includes the recently launched Balmoral Fillet -  a sliced side of traditional smoked salmon, Balvenie Whisky smoked salmon and a smoked salmon paté.

Vicky Leigh, John Ross Jr’s Sales Director, says: “Harrods decision to sell John Ross Jr smoked salmon is testament to the quality of our product and recognition of our authentic approach to producing world-class food. Harrods is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated stores and we are delighted to be associated with such a prestigious brand.”

Bruce Langlands, Director of the Harrods Food Halls, says: “At Harrods we are always interested in working in partnership with small artisan producers who complement our existing product range.  We were truly impressed by the gourmet smoked salmon range offered by John Ross Jr and look forward to working with the smokehouse.”
