ONE of Norway’s leading salmon farming companies, SalMar ASA yesterday entered into an agreement to acquire 100 % of the shares in Bringsvor Laks AS.
Bringsvor Laks owns and operates two salmon farming licenses outside Sandsøya, in the Ålesund area in the Møre og Romsdal County. The company has no smolt or harvesting facilities.
Bringsvor Laks plans to harvest about 1,800 tonnes gutted weight in 2011, mainly in the first half of the year. The purchase price for the shares has been agreed at NOK 141 million (£15.5 million).
Salmar, 50% owners of Scottish Seafarms, recently reported 2010 profits of £107 million and has been busy acquiring salmon farming licences in both Norway as well as investing in Bakkafrost in the Faroes.
The transaction is scheduled to be completed at the start of April and is subject to approval from the Norwegian Competition Authority.
