ALL ABOARD FOR LAUNCH OF SEAS ATLAS
Published:  09 March, 2011

Scotland’s first Marine Atlas will be unveiled on Friday (March 11) by Environment Secretary Richard Lochhead.

This world-leading resource will inform marine planning decisions, as well as give pupils a fantastic new tool for learning about the seas. The launch will take place aboard marine protection vessel MPV Hirta in Leith Harbour, Edinburgh.

A short DVD introducing the Marine Atlas, which is both a hard copy publication and a freely available online resource, will be shown in the ship's conference room.

Representatives from the bodies who have collaborated to produce the atlas will be attendance – Marine Scotland Science, the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, Scottish Natural Heritage, Marine Alliance for Science and Technology for Scotland (MASTS) and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.
