The UK's leading training academy for the fish processing industry has chosen AFOS equipment for their Humber training centre.
The Seafood Training Academy based at the Humber Seafood Institute in Grimsby has praised the newly installed AFOS mini kiln for its ease of use.
Professor Mike Dillon, Chairman of the Seafood Training Academy said: "The AFOS mini kiln is the ideal choice for training small groups in the art and science of smoking fish and shellfish.
"The kiln is compact enough to fit into the existing training kitchens at the Humber Seafood Institute without the need for a costly electrical supply or special ventilation.
"The balance between simple touch screen controls for temperature and duration of smoking and the mechanical controls for ventilation, provide the ideal training kiln."
The kiln will be used by trainees on an Advanced Smoking practical courses and is designed to complement the Smoking eLearning Programme which will provide the route to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.
Prof Dillon added:" We are in the centre of the most advanced manufacturing cluster in the UK and the nationally recognised seafood group demand high level skills for their workforce. The Seafood Training Academy provides these services in Grimsby - an area where 80% of all frozen and 70% of all UK chilled fish is made. "
Jennie Stone, AFOS Marketing Executive, said: "The simplicity of use and installation and the consistency of the smoking procedure make the mini kiln an ideal choice for small producers and catering colleges."
