Seafood chef launches world's first iPhone fish app
Published:  25 November, 2010

TOP fish chef Mitch Tonks has launched  the first iPhone app dedicated to promoting fish skills and popular fish recipes.

The award winning restaurateur, who has worked closely as an advisor and ambassador to Young's Seafood in recent years, believes it is the first new technology approach to dedicated seafood techniques and cooking.

Called "Eat Fish",  the app includes 17 videos showing techniques such as preparing crab and filleting a fish six step by step guides to the most commonly asked questions in the fishmongers and - 27 recipes that range from simple suppers to impressive treats that anyone will be able to do. There is also seasonal information on the best fish to eat month by month and more than 40 species are highlighted.

He said his seafood cookery schools are generally packed with people in need bit of advice and inspiration who come away brimming with confidence and a new found evangelism about cooking more seafood for friends.

He added that while the app which costs around £2.99  might not replace the fun of a cookery school it certainly demystifies the preparation and cooking of fish and shellfish and provides users with all sorts of handy skills and tips at the touch of a button and a fraction of the cost.

Mitch Tonks, who is also helping to promote South Devon crab,  said he was very excited about this new development. " My wish has always been to try to show how easy fish is to prepare and cook with a little of the right know-how,” said Tonks. “My team, who’ve put this together with me, are geniuses. If you like seafood as much as I do, I think you’ll love it. ” The app can be found in the iTunes store by searching “mitch tonks” or “eat fish”.
