Seafood group wins another Fish For Life award

THE Findus Group has been honoured by the Food and Drink Federation for its "Fish For Life"seafood sourcing programme.

At this week’s annual Community Partnership Awards in London, Findus, which includes Young's Seafood and The Seafood Company,  received a Special Award for Excellence from the Federation. This is the sixth major award for the Fish for Life programme. The Findus Group uses it as a vehicle to drive ongoing improvement in fisheries management around the world, as well as a mechanism to ensure the responsible sourcing of both farmed and wild seafood for its Young’s and Findus brands.

In June, Fish for Life was also named by the EU as winner of the Management Category in the 2010 European Business Awards for the Environment.Ian Hagg, director of corporate social responsibility, received the award on behalf of Findus Group.  He said, “It has been a fantastic year for our Fish for Life programme and we are absolutely delighted that the work we do in this area continues to be recognised as a benchmark for best practice in our industry.”

In addition to the award for Fish for Life, Findus Group also received a second accolade in today’s Awards with a Silver for Young’s Seafood in the Workplace Wellbeing category.

Findus says that , has through its wider Food For Life agenda, given a strong commitment to proactively reduce the environmental impact of its entire business.  It also plays a leading role in the drive to improve fish sustainability through Fish For Life  sourcing all seafood according to the rigorous standards of its ‘Ten Principles for Responsible Fish Procurement.
