Rebranding announced for Lighthouse Caledonia

THE salmon farming company Lighthouse Caldeonia is to be  officially rebranded, it was announced yesterday.

Faced with the prospect of having to close a couple of years ago, the business has made a dramatic turnaround and will now  be renamed as the Scottish Salmon Company.

The move comes just a week after the Scottish Salmon Company announced the successful completion of an exchange offer to acquire all the Lighthouse Caledonia shares. Lighthouse Caledonia, which is based in Edinburgh  a major employer in the Western Isles and Loch Fyne areas. The company which madea £63 million profit last year,  was rescued by an investment deal worth £17m.

Environment Minister Roseanna Cunningham has supported the firm's decision to be rebranded. She said aquaculture was an important asset to Scotland's rural economy.

Chief executive Mike Corbett said: "The Scottish Salmon Company brand fully reflects the ethos and culture of our company. It highlights our respect for the quality of Scottish produce and the fact we are an independent Scottish company, as well as the integral role we play in the rural communities in which we work.

"The new structure ensures we have a strong base for developing a significant Scottish business and makes a more efficient and effective corporate force, uniting the Company's operational and industry expertise under one strong and sustainable umbrella brand which reflects the pride we have in the provenance of our salmon."

Chairman Jim Mullins, who led the restructuring of the company, said they plan to expand the company “significantly”.Stornoway is due to re-open in the next few months and there are other growth plans, yet to be announced.
