Assistant Farm Manager

Due to promotion Sanford Limited is seeking an Assistant Salmon Farm Manager for its operations based in Big Glory Bay on Stewart Island, New Zealand.

The operation forms a significant part of Sanford Ltd’s Aquaculture division and is the second largest salmon faming operation in New Zealand.  The Stewart Island based Salmon farms have been developed over 20 years and have a high international reputation in production of superior quality Salmon.

The farms have undergone a major expansion utilising new sea cages and automatic feeding systems.  Production has increased by 50% from 1500 to 3000 ton per year.

The role involves daily management of the farm and associated vessels ensuring the farming operation is efficient in producing high quality Chinook Salmon.  The Assistant Farm Manager will be responsible in the Farm Managers absence for the supervision of 18 permanent staff.  Maintaining a safe work environment and environmentally friendly work practices are very important.  Emphasis on quality and continuous improvement across the operations are key elements of the position.

The successful applicant will have a proven record in salmon farm management with strong interpersonal, and team building skills. A relocation package will be available to suitable candidates.
