MAJOR changes have been announced at the top of Iceland Seafood International (ISI), the worldwide organisation for fresh, frozen and salted fish.
The company has appointed has appointed Helgi Anton Eiríksson as it‘s new Chief Executive Officer, an executive with considerable experience in the industry while Benedikt Sveinsson steps up from the role of CEO to that of chairman of the board. ISI have said that Bjarni Benediksson will continue as managing director of the group.
Helgi Anton Eiriksson, has been involved with the global seafood industry since 1992, working in various aspects of the industry, including sales management and procurement. Since 2004, he has worked in the financial sector, building business relationships with various seafood and food industry leaders, primarily in North America and Europe.
Benedikt Sveinsson's career connected with seafood sales and processing, spans nearly 35 years including chief executive positions at Iceland Seafood International, Iceland Seafood Ltd. in UK and Iceland Seafood Corp. in the United States.
Although Iceland Seafood International has its headquarters in Reykjavik, the group has major fresh and frozen seafood importing business interests in Britain, operating from a base near Hull, and in mainland Europe, North America and Asia. The company has strong relationship with processors in both the North Atlantic and in South East Asia and is well connected to all major seafood markets. The company first came into existence more than 75 years ago. But following a series of mergers and corporate re-organisations, the current group structure was put into place during 2004.
