MARINE SITE MANAGER, SENIOR MARINE OPERATIVE, 4 MARINE OPERATIVES

Lighthouse Caledonia is a leading supplier of high quality Scottish Salmon and a principal player in the Scottish aquaculture industry.  The company is engaged in all stages of farming Atlantic salmon from smolt production through to harvesting, processing, packing and sales. We are totally committed to the highest standards of animal welfare, sustainable operations and the promotion of a responsible environmental policy.

We are shortly re-opening our Vuia Beag site on West Loch Roag, and recruiting a team which will  be fully involved from the initial stages of setting up the site. We have the following opportunities:

MARINE SITE MANAGER £34,000 – £37,000

The ideal candidate will be a fully experienced and enthusiastic salmon farmer with excellent fish husbandry skills, strong management and leadership qualities and proven organisational skills. Applicants must also be experienced in automated feed systems, fish health, growth curves and feed management. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate commitment to the safety and welfare of the staff for whom they are responsible, to the livestock within their control and to limiting any possible environmental impact of farming on the local community and beyond.

SENIOR MARINE OPERATIVE £21,000 - £24,000

Under the direction of the Manager, the SMO will assume responsibility for leading the team in all the day to day operations of the site.  Applicants must have proven fish husbandry and organisational abilities, good numeric and IT skills, be committed to high standards of Health and Safety and understand the importance of environmental issues.

4  MARINE OPERATIVES £15,500 - £19,000

This team will work in all the day to day operations of the site including fish welfare, sampling,   grading and moving, site maintenance, net changing and boat handling.  Applicants must have good practical and problem solving skills and ideally have marine experience. Previous fish farming experience would be useful, but is not essential as training will be given. 

A current driving licence is essential for all posts. Hours are 40 per week plus a rota of 1 weekend in 3  (at enhanced overtime rates) We offer excellent terms and conditions of employment including a generous company pension scheme.
