Fisheries Minister Helga Pedersen on Friday issued licences for 65 new Norwegian aqua farms for salmon and trout nationwide for 2009.
The three northernmost counties were granted nearly half of the new licences, with seven to Finnmark, eight to Troms and 15 to Nordland.
Nord-Troendelag were granted eight, and Soer-Troendelag seven, while Moere og Romsdal, Sogn og Fjordane and Hordland five each.
Five licences were set aside for ecological aqua farming.
In Finnmark each licence will cost NOK 3 million, while in the rest of the nation the cost is NOK 8 million for a new licence.
