Following the success of Seafood Week 2007, organiser Seafish has extended the event to a fortnight, running from 5-21 September 2008.
Seafood Fortnight aims to emulate Seafood Week as a popular fixture in the food and drink calendar, with celebrity chefs, foodies and seafood enthusiasts all getting involved. This year’s event is set to be the biggest celebration of seafood yet, with special tastings, demonstrations, menus and offers available in hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, fish and chip shops and fishmongers across the UK.
The ‘2 a week’ theme will encourage everybody to eat the recommended two portions of seafood a week, one of which should be rich in omega 3 oils. Businesses getting involved will show how easy it is to eat ‘2 a week’ sustainably with the wide variety of different species we have to choose from. There will also be a focus on how simple it is to cook with – when you know how - as well as how delicious and nutritious.
For tempting new ideas on how to get your ‘2 a week’ and to find out more about Seafood Fortnight, log on to www.seafish.org/2aweek.
