Loch Fyne Oysters has scooped the Marine Aquaculture Company of the Year at the The Crown Estate Marine Aquaculture Awards, which were held at The Hub in Edinburgh. The award was collected by David Attwood, Production Director at Loch Fyne Oysters.
The awards reward innovation and best practice in Scottish aquaculture and recognise operators who employ the highest standards of husbandry' offer innovative training programmes' support local communities, and manage their businesses with a high level of environmental awareness.
Loch Fyne Oysters has also been selected as a finalist in the Food and Drink Federation Community Partnership Awards, which recognises its contribution to the local community. The strength of the nomination was based on its work with the students of Inveraray School raising their appreciation of local food through Farmer's Markets. The concept was used to inspire future farmer's markets and community involvement including the recent EatBute08. The winners will be announced at the Churchill Museum in London on the 28 October.

At its base in Argyll, Scotland, Loch Fyne Oysters rear its own oysters and mussels and run a traditional smokehouse, smoking and curing fish using methods handed down over the years. Other fish and shellfish are sourced from local day-boats and from independent fish farms working to Organic or Freedom Food standards.
