TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Published:  06 June, 2008

Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)
London, UK £55-£70K pa

The MSC is the leading international non-profit organisation offering an FAO consistent programme to certify fisheries as well managed and sustainable. Our mission is to contribute to reversing the decline in global fish stocks by promoting the ‘best environmental choice’ in seafood.

With offices in London, Sydney, Seattle and Tokyo, MSC is now seeking an outstanding individual to lead MSC’s technical and policy work on the quality and consistency of individual fishery assessments, standard setting, accreditation quality assurance, developing country fisheries, chain of custody, governance and stakeholder relationships. The Technical Director is a key strategic position in the organisation, leading a team of ten staff and reporting directly to the CEO. The job provides opportunities to design and lead ground-breaking improvement and evaluation projects.

If you have post-graduate qualifications and at least 10 years (preferably 15) of professional experience relevant to the certification of fisheries or other comparable natural resource systems, we want to hear from you. You will bring sound judgement, intellectual clarity and a thorough understanding of standard setting and certification systems, along with a demonstrated ability to function effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. With written and oral communication skills second to none, you are a strategic thinker and able to deliver solid outcomes.

Please visit www.msc.org/html/content_483.htm for more details, requirements and application instructions or call Emma Bull on +44 (0)20 7811 3325 to request a copy. Closing date for applications is 09.00 British Summer Time on Monday 7th July 2008.
