The NAFC Marine Centre is an industry-focused research and education centre located in Shetland. It provides training, marine science and quality services to support the nautical, fisheries, engineering, aquaculture and seafood industries. The Centre seeks an able and highly motivated individual to lead the organisation’s growth and development.
The director will be responsible to Shetland Fisheries Training Centre Trust for the management of the NAFC Marine Centre and for delivering the range of services the centre provides.
The role will include:
• Providing strategic and inspirational leadership and management to ensure the continued growth and success of the Centre
• Developing education and training for the maritime industries
• Managing programmes of research and development to support these industries
• Fostering and developing collaborative relationships with industry and other partners
• Working with others to develop the concept of integrated coastal zone management for the waters around Shetland
The successful candidate will have:
• A good degree or equivalent (a professional qualification in a relevant discipline and knowledge of some aspect of the maritime industries is desirable)
• Significant experience in a senior managerial role
• Experience in developing and implementing strategic planning and leading organisational change
• Experience in handling complex issues and developing innovative solutions
• Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse team from different disciplines
• Good communication skills
