A SMALL fishing boat sparked a full scale emergency off Shetland yesterday after it lost power.
Coastguard helicopter Rescue 102 was scrambled from Sumburgh, while the Lerwick lifeboat was alerted and an auxiliary coastguard team on the isle of Bressay leapt into action after reports of a boat on fire.
However, it emerged that four people on board the Carol Lynn had set off flares after breaking down around 2.30pm yesterday, and these had been mistaken for a blaze on board.
Two local boats, Dunter III and Searanger, went to help and the vessel was towed into Lerwick marina. No one was hurt in the incident.
