THE headquarters of the Sea Fish Industry Authority in Edinburgh has been visited by police and fisheries enforcement officials as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged illegal fish landings at Scottish ports, it was confirmed today.
A spokesperson for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service told FISHupdate.com:
“We can confirm that, as part of an ongoing investigation which commenced in 2005 into the alleged illegal landing of fish at certain Scottish ports, officers of Northern Constabulary and Grampian Police, assisted by officers from the Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency, executed search warrants on 23 April at the offices of the Sea Fish Industry Authority. The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service remains in liaison with the police and the SFPA in this ongoing investigation."
There was no further comment on the issue, but the alleged illegal fish landings probe has already involved specific investigation relating to the landing of pelagic species in Shetland and in North-east Scotland.

Should there be a nationally backed plan to develop the UK cod farming sector?
