Sid Patten |
THE chief official of Scotland's top salmon trade association is leaving his post, it was confirmed today.
Sid Patten, who was appointed chief executive of the Scottish Salmon Producers' Organisation (SSPO) in 2006, has handed in his notice but no date has yet been set for his departure, FISHupdate.com understands.
There was no official comment on why Mr Patten decided to move on, but it was confirmed today that the search is now on for a successor.
Mr Patten has adopted an upfront role since he took office, ensuring that he saw as much of the aquaculture industry at first hand as possible.
He was appointed as SSPO chief executive in January 2006 to launch the new trade association for the Scottish salmon farming industry. At the time, the appointment was described by the new body as an important step in achieving a single representative grouping for the industry.
