THE Fishermen’s Mission has received a £5,000 donation from the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation (SFF).
SFF President Ian Gatt presented Mission chairman Brian Miles with the cheque at a dinner held recently at the House of Lords.
Brian Miles said: “We are extremely grateful to the SFF but more specifically to Michael Sutherland and his team at SFF Services who made the funds available. We aim to alleviate poverty and despair in our fishing communities by providing emergency and welfare support to fishermen and their families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This very welcome donation will help make our mission possible”.
Presenting the cheque, Mr Gatt praised the Mission and the past support it had given fishermen and their families. He said he and other industry leaders looked forward to working with the charity to help ensure that the needs of present and future generations of fishermen would continue to benefit from the Mission’s care and compassion.

Should there be a nationally backed plan to develop the UK cod farming sector?
