TOP honours will be up for grabs again this month at the European Seafood Exposition in Brussels as finalists jostle for pole position during the eighth Seafood Prix d'Elite New Products Competition.
With interest escalating each year, this competition is continuing to grow in importance and prestige, according to its organiser. Of 89 entries this year, 40 new products from 11 countries will be evaluated by a distinguished group of seafood experts, who will judge each finalist on taste, originality, convenience, packaging, market potential and nutrition.
The innovative nature of the products generally stems either from a contemporary twist to traditional products or the creation of new product categories for seafood.
“The overall competition creates great opportunities to get new products in front of high-level buyers from all over the world,” explains Vice President Mary Larkin of Diversified Business Communications, the European Seafood Exposition organiser.
The Seafood Prix d'Elite competition awards prizes in two main categories: Best New Retail Seafood Product and Best New Foodservice Product. Special awards are also given at the judges' discretion to winners in the following categories: Convenience, Health, Retail Packaging, Originality and Best Seafood Product Line.
These awards will be presented at a special reception on April 22 from 18.15 to 20.00 in Auditorium 2000 at the European Seafood Exposition, Brussels. Winners will also be on display throughout the exhibition at stand number 4609 in the patio.
The European Seafood Exposition is Europe's premier seafood exhibition. ESE provides direct access to a global buying audience from 144 countries and over 1,600 exhibitors from 77 countries are represented.
The exhibition provides a one-stop resource for seafood professionals, bringing together the buying power of leading, retail, foodservice and wholesale companies. It runs in parallel with the Seafood Processing Europe tradeshow.
