Fishing 2008 is held in the Glasgow SECC |
THE skirl of the pipes today marked the opening of the major Fishing 2008 show in Glasgow.
The three-day event is being attended by exhibitors from all over the UK and Europe and the organisers say they hope for the same kind of "buzz" that marked last year's event.
Meanwhile, the show's commercial director Graeme Ringsell said he was delighted with interest in the show so far.
"We have had more than 1000 pre-registrations, which is up on last year and we have already had queues forming to get in today."
As well as the wide range of hardware on show, the event features a number of seminars, kicking off today with sessions on gear technology and the implications for commercial fisheries of offshore renewable energy.
A safety seminar was also on the agenda today.
Tomorrow, Scotish Fisheries Minister Richard Lochhead is due to give a keynote speech on Scottish fishing into the future.
www.fishupdate.com is published by Special Publications. Special Publications also publish FISHupdate magazine, Fish Farmer, the Fish Industry Yearbook, the Scottish Seafood Processors Federation Diary, the Fish Farmer Handbook and a range of wallplanners.
Should there be a nationally backed plan to develop the UK cod farming sector?
