Irish show is looking good
Published:  05 March, 2008

The event will be held at the Galway Bay Hotel

THE Irish Skipper Expo ‘08, which takes place on March 7 and 8 looks set for success.

The organisers say there is a buzz in the air as Ireland’s inshore fishing sector again gets the chance to see the latest technology available and to discuss the current state of the industry at this year’s event.

The 2008 show is expected to be an even better showcase with more display stands and boats on view and also a wider range of products for the under 20m sector.

This year’s event has moved to a larger and more modern venue of the Galway Bay Hotel in Salthill, Galway City. As well as providing fishermen with access to market leaders in the manufacture and supply of equipment for the inshore fleet, Irish Skipper Expo 08 will once again give fishermen in this sector the opportunity to benefit from a range of workshops being held by BIM in conjunction with the exhibition.

The show will be opened by Irish MEP Sean O’Neachtain who is a member of the EU Parliament fisheries committee.

Last year's two-day show was attended by over 3,000 visitors from Ireland, the UK, France, Scandinavia and Newfoundland. The impressive exhibitor list from last year included in excess of sixty companies from all parts of Ireland, England, Scotland, France, Faroe Islands, Spain, Norway and Denmark with new exhibitors travelling from as far away as Korea.
