OVERALL fish values at Peterhead are running ahead of last year with direct and consigned white fish and shellfish values and tonnages all showing an increase.
Figures issued by Peterhead Port Authority show that the value of all fish handled at Peterhead in January this year was £26,412,525 compared with £25,901,564 for January 2007.
In species value terms, direct white fish landings were at £4,441,049 compared with £3,961,782 in January 2007, with consigned value at £757,849 this January compared with £676,871 last year.
Total white fish value was £5,198,898 compared with £4,638,653 for January 2007.
Shellfish value was up from £441,626 to £526,511.
Mackerel value was marginally down from £20,820,545 to £20,687,116 against a tonnage drop from 31,623 to 31,004 tonnes.
Shellfish tonnage was up from 196 tonnes to 282 tonnes with direct white fish landings up from 2271 tonnes to 3003 tonnes and consigned fish from 366 tonnes to 390 tonnes.
