More North American success for Saucy Fish

THE Saucy Fish C. has just secured two further North American listings for its new frozen range, with US based Meijer and Fortinos in Canada.

The announcement was made at the weekend just before the opening of the big Seafood Expo North America in Boston, where the company has a presence.

In a string of new listings, last week the brand announced that its popular Ready to Eat range is now available at both Hannaford and Mariano’s in the US.

Now come two more.  Loblaws-owned Fortinos now stock four frozen Saucy Fish products in all 23 of its stores in Ontario, Canada.

The frozen range includes: Atlantic Salmon with Chilli, Lime and Ginger Dressing, Herb Crusted Atlantic Salmon with Lemon Butter Sauce, Smoked Haddock with Aged Cheddar & Chive Sauce and Tilapia with Salsa Verde.

The family owned retailer Meijer will list three of Saucy’s frozen fish and sauce products, including brand new Tilapia with Korean BBQ Sauce, which has been exclusively developed for the US market, following research into upcoming flavour trends.

Selected products from the frozen range will be available in 230 supermarket and hypermarket stores across the midwestern region, from March 25.

The new Saucy frozen range was designed to provide consumers with a much needed solution – quality fish, from freezer to fork in half an hour.

In a push to attract a new generation to the freezer aisle in the UK, Saucy Fish recently launched an extensive Frozen Just Got Cooler digital campaign, which has reached more than 13 million people in just five weeks.

The company’s international and business development manager, Paul Macis, said: ‘Since expanding into the freezer aisle in late 2016, the Saucy Fish frozen range is now available in 10 leading retailers, across three of our key territories.

‘We’re on a mission to make frozen cooler, bringing convenience and inspiration to the category. The whole frozen range has been so well received, it’s great to see so many retailers getting on board.’

Based in Grimsby, Saucy Fish is owned by Icelandic Seachill.

Meanwhile, at the Seafood Expo event in Boston yesterday, Fishpeople Seafood and Open Blue were announced as the winners of the 2017 Seafood Excellence Awards.

Fishpeople won the Best New Retail award for its Seafood Meyer Lemon and Herb Panko Wild Alaska Salmon Kit, and Open Blue won the Best New Foodservice award for its Frozen Open Blue Cobia Fillet.
